About
At Cowan Studio, we create moments of beauty both inside and out, offering services in residential landscape design, interior architecture, and seasonal cut flowers grown locally in Kimberton, Pennsylvania.
-
Our flowers are grown in our own backyard using ecological gardening practices that build healthy soil, support pollinators, and are free of pesticides and herbicides.
Throughout the growing season, we offer fresh, seasonal arrangements from our roadside flower stand on Hares Hill Road in Kimberton, typically open on weekends.
There is a long tradition of making and selling things from this property. In the late nineteenth century, a cobbler’s shop operated here, and in more recent history, the Hares Hill Flower Stand sold flowers along the same road. Cowan Studio honors this history and carries the tradition forward in a new way.
Our arrangements are loose, garden-inspired, and reflective of what is blooming at the moment. Because we grow on a small scale, each week brings a changing mix of flowers, foliage, textures, and colors. Small custom arrangements can be made available for gatherings, gifts, and special occasions.

Led by a licensed landscape architect, Cowan Studio creates residential gardens that are beautiful, functional, and responsive to their surroundings.
Our approach considers the garden as an extension of the home. We look carefully at how indoor and outdoor spaces connect, how a landscape changes through the seasons, and how it can support both people and the larger ecology around it.
From planting design and garden renovations to the reimagining of an entire property, we create landscapes with a strong sense of place, using plants and materials selected for seasonal interest, resilience, and long-term performance.
-
With a background in architecture, we approach interiors with an eye toward both beauty and function.
We are especially drawn to historic homes and spaces where careful interventions can make everyday life work better without erasing the character that makes a home distinctive.
Our work can include space planning, interior architectural details, kitchen layouts, material and finish selections, built-ins, and other small-scale residential projects. We especially love designing children’s rooms and play spaces.
We also think beyond the walls of the house, considering views, thresholds, porches, gardens, and the transition between interior and exterior spaces to create a home that feels cohesive as a whole.
About Allison
Cowan Studio is led by Allison Koll-Cowan, a licensed landscape architect with over a decade of experience designing gardens, landscapes, and public spaces of all scales. With formal training in both landscape architecture and architecture, Allison brings an integrated perspective to the relationship between home and garden. She holds dual master’s degrees in Landscape Architecture and Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently pursuing an Ecological Gardening Certificate through Mt. Cuba Center.
Allison is also a mom, artist, gardener, former yoga teacher, and neighbor—roles that continually shape the way she thinks about design and the spaces where everyday life unfolds. Her work is grounded in curiosity, care, and a belief that beautiful spaces should also feel welcoming, functional, and connected to their surroundings.
Whether creating a garden master plan, introducing native plants into an existing landscape, reimagining a kitchen or bathroom, designing a small urban patio, or arranging seasonal flowers for the kitchen table, Allison approaches each project with a thoughtful eye toward both the details and the larger whole.
